“Coming soon” banner on the roof – starting a “local campain”

Dear friends of Project Cinema Jenin,

some month ago the habitants of Jenin did not really know what these strange foreigners from Europe are doing in their city. Slowly the people realized and understood from personal talks with the team, the volunteers and the local helping hands that we plan to renovate and re-open the cinema next year. So we decided to start a campain in the city to make sure that everybody gets to know about it. In the first step we now have our flyer in Arabic language. Furthermore we announced the re-opening of the cinema, as you can see, on a big banner in Arabic language on the roof of the cinema. Later there will be a LED-screen for commercials produced by the youngsters of the Cinema Jenin Filmschool and Cinema Jenin Production, featuring the movies wich will be show next in the cinema. There are many more ideas regarding this screen.

I will take the Arabic flyer to Jenin on my next trip in the mid-October. The heavy weight of 30 kilos for the flyer will make my laguage 4 times heavier than normal, but – it is what it is. And we really need the flyer in Arabic luggage to start the campain. Special thanks to my friend Summer Shamma from Arabtainment in Hamburg for the layout in Arabic language and to Mr. Ahmady from Copy Campus in Hamburg who also decided to support the project by printing 10.000 copies. I also would like to thank Ahmad Jalbouni from Jenin who produced the high quality printing of the banner for the roof and also for the guesthouse signs. We strongly accpext we will get more and more local support from the local companies by starting this campain.

Stay tuned

Ulf

You are very interesting to write. Can you recommend any similar sites similar to yours?

So – for sure we have been one of the first europeans who came here to start such a project. The only local project which is also about culture and overseas cooperations is the “Freedom Theatre” here in Jenin.
There are also coming actors from all over the world to work in workshops with the childreen from the refugee camp. Check out: http://www.thefreedomtheatre.org/

  3. I am in the process of scheduling interviews for a roofing contractor.
I know the basics (i.e. proof of insurance, license, written price, schedule) but are there any other questions
I should be asking that would effect the outcome of the roof? Is it ok to flat out as for referrals?
Do you think it is important to actually meet the foreman who will be on the job?
    Any insight would help!! Thanks!

Hi, you definitely should be with the foreman when he start the work so that you can see if he knows what he has to do and that he understands what you expect.if things are not clear, ask them to prepare a 1:1 sample. especially the corener-condition of the roof and the connection to the adjecent walls or gutters need propper detailing. once the works are clear you should visit the site on a regular basis so that the workers know that watch them closeley and if questions are rising up there is somebody to ask.
    good luck
    Johannes
